WINDHAM, N.H. (WHDH) — A New Hampshire groom is being sued by wedding guests after they claim his drone crashed and injured them at the reception.
An attorney for the two women said the drone was flying inside a tent at Searles Castle when it crashed down onto them. The attorney said one of the women suffered a concussion and a cut that required more than 20 stitches. He said the other woman also suffered a concussion and fractured bones in her face.
“The groom told me he thought he had it in hover mode,” said Scott Robb II, of Searles Castle.
In court paperwork, the groom claimed he had permission to fly the drone. Robb said that is not true and the first he heard of it was when the groom was flying the drone at the wedding.
“I explained to him that it was illegal, we are too close to a water landing strip and a helipad,” said Robb.
Robb said the groom flew it anyway and he only found out when one of his waiters rushed to tell him. As he ran to the tent, Robb said the drone crashed and fell on one of the women.
The venue was also named in the lawsuit because the two wedding guests believe they did not do anything to get the groom to stop flying his drone.
