Texas: Not the place to crash, Ellis County DA’s yard

The Ellis County district attorney Patrick Wilson turned to twitter when a hobby RPA  arrived at his door on Monday.

Speaking to Sebastian Robertson , of WFAA the DA Wilson said, it’s more than “not cool.” Under the Texas Privacy Act, this aborted flight could be illegal. Passed in 2015, the statute states that flying an unmanned aircraft for surveillance is a Class C misdemeanor. If any photos are distributed, it bumps up to a Class B misdemeanor that’s punishable by jail time.

This might be a simple flyaway where a sorry will make it better. The owner might have no idea where the RPA is if he or she had lost control of it. I guess if they follow the news they know now and should do the right thing and fess up.

The drone in question is an AEE AP10 http://en.aee.com/Drone/Inform.aspx?id=10000093 a fairly generic looking Chinese design.
